The purpose of The Leadership Project is to empower individuals to commit to personal and professional growth. The Leadership Project is dedicated to helping every one of our clients realize lasting positive change, find more satisfaction at work and more meaning in life overall.

The Leadership Project approach applies science-based principles and practitioner best practices to help clients better understand themselves and their behaviors. Non-judgmental self-awareness is the foundation for making positive changes stick. Melissa, founder and Leadership Coach, partners with each client to co-create a pathway toward better habits in thinking. With consistent practice and an openness to new possibilities, clients develop a stronger mentality, resulting in more emotional control and consistently productive actions.

The Leadership Project cares about helping individuals and organizations make forward process and see lasting positive change. This practice cares about demonstrating a return on your investment in us. As a client, you will work together with Melissa to determine the performance markers to measure your progress. Melissa Schreibstein, M.S.

Melissa Schreibstein, founder of The Leadership Project, LLC, is a compassionate and intuitive coach. An expert in well-being and resilience with an understanding of current trends in leadership, performance psychology, and effective communication, Melissa partners with clients to improve their leadership effectiveness and thrive. As a coach, Melissa brings a non-judgmental and thoughtful perspective to powerful inquiry, holding spaces for clients to learn more about who they are, how they work, and their impact on others.

 During coaching engagements, Melissa’s strengths-based approach helps clients with difficult decision-making, goal setting, career progression, facing challenges, managing stressors, and building emotional intelligence. Impactful coaching conversations prompt clients to think deeply about what is important to them professionally and personally, enabling leaders to clearly align their actions and decisions to their values. She gives clients tools to use beyond the coaching engagement, often teaching clients mindfulness techniques and mental skills to deal with stress and prioritize health and well-being, or supplementing sessions with book recommendations and reading material. Clients report that regular sessions enhance their professional focus, confidence, individual and team performance. Melissa’s clients include experienced and emerging leaders, ranging from C-suite executives, small business and non-profit leadership, physicians, entrepreneurs, collegiate and professional athletes. Melissa also provides pro bono coaching to medical students.

 Melissa works as a Senior Manager in Talent Development at CVS Health where she runs leadership development programs for the organization’s 5800 mid-level leaders. Formerly, she served as the Director of Well-Being Programs at George Mason University’s Center for the Advancement of Well-Being. She is an expert in facilitation of interactive and engaging leadership development training, tailoring programs to meet client development goals for individuals and organizations. She honed her passion for developing thriving leaders working as a senior subject matter expert in peak performance and resilience for the U.S. Army. Whether it’s in the boardroom, gym, office, classroom, or on the field, Melissa provides compelling lessons, sound insight, and enthusiastic, strategic support to help clients achieve higher levels of success.

 Melissa maintains an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential through the International Coach Federation. She completed certification in Leadership Coaching for Organizational Well- Being from George Mason University. Melissa studied positive psychology and resilience with a team of experts at the University of Pennsylvania. She has a Master of Science in Sport and Exercise Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro School of Health and Human Sciences. Her bachelor’s degree in psychology is from the George Washington University, where she captained the women’s soccer team. Melissa and her wife live in Washington, DC.
